Mentoring

Flavien's approach to mentoring. Please read it before applying.

What students can expect from me

  • Clear and direct communication, grounded in empathy and honesty.
  • Hands-on mentorship: I interact with you very regularly and support you in every aspect of your research, from planning to design choices. You can count on very fast answers to your questions and on help when you need it.
  • Curiosity and openness: I am attentive to your ideas and eager to explore the new approaches you propose.
  • Long-term support: your success is my main goal, and my commitment to it extends beyond your time in the lab. I will do my best to support your career throughout its course.

What I expect from students

  • Passion and dedication for your work.
  • Strong programming and technical skills, and a readiness to engage in deep, practical research, from rapid prototyping to rigorous experimentation.
  • Clear and honest communication, so that I can best support you throughout your research.
  • Resilience: some projects will fail, and some papers will be rejected. This is an inevitable part of research. I will help you limit setbacks and learn from them, but you must be ready to face challenges and grow stronger from them.
